About 40minutes drive from Kagoshima city, Atelier Nen is in a mountainous area in Matsumoto.
The Chinese character of the shop’s name “無” is usually read “mu”, but it is read “nen” as the shop’s name, which is in the Amami dialect.
The garden is well looked after and various seasonal flowers blossom, and the wind blowing between trees is really gentle.
You will realize that you can breathe deeply here.
The English garden has had the arrangements changed many times by the owner couple, and it has many pretty flowers and ornaments.
There is a wooden cottage through the English garden.
In the cottage, various European goods such as nice looking planter covers, watering cans, wall ornaments, and accessories are displayed. Price tags are on them, so if you like something, you need to take it to the café and pay the fee there.
You can see the English garden from the cottage window. The view is like a painting when the window is full open.
When you look outside from the cottage entrance, you can see a Japanese style garden. The green on the ground is not lawn, but moss. The owner couple grew it over many years.
The contrast between light and shadow is pretty.
The café is on the opposite side of the English garden from the cottage.
They have coffee (400yen), tea (400yen) and a daily cake set (700yen).
In the café, slow jazz was playing. It was a nice and peaceful space.
The freshly brewed coffee was tasty. Nice antiques decorated the shop, and they made a good and nostalgic atmosphere.
The concept of the shop is ” a healing space”.
The owner wants people who are tired of daily life to have a nice relaxing time here. He wants to provide a space in which people can refresh themselves.
