SŌKŌ (霜降)

Sōkō(霜降) is the 18th of 24 solar terms (節氣) in the traditional East Asian calendars.
Sōkō means frost descent.
It is the season it gets colder as the autumn advances and morning dew falls on the garden.
It is also the season that we have the first frost of autumn.
Maple trees and vines start to change colors.
The north wind from this day to “Ritto (立冬: the first day of winter according to the lunar calendar)” is called “Kogarashi (木枯らし / cold wintry wind). It means the wind which causes blight in plants.
