Kagoshima Municipal Science Hall (鹿児島市立科学館) was renovated in March last year, and displays have changed a lot!
You can enjoy operating and experiencing these displays, but today we’d like to tell you about the workshop area on the 4th floor.
As the name says, anybody, from children to adults, can enjoy making things here.
You can make origami, plastic sheet ornaments, slime, pinwheels, tops, PP band balls and other things. All have explanatory sheets telling you how to make the things.
It didn’t look so difficult, and there was a father and a boy trying hard to make an origami frog staring at the how-to-make sheet, a girl devoting herself entirely to making a band ball, a little girl enjoying drawing a picture on a plastic sheet and a lady making very difficult origami. This is a place where anybody and all ages can get engrossed in making things.
Reception hours are from 10:00 to 11:40 and from 13:00 to 15:40. You can apply once a day and it is free.
There is a showcase on the left side of the place in which you can see samples.
Decide what you want to make there and get the instruction sheet, materials and sample. Now, you can start making your design.
Production time and difficulty vary depending on the work.
Read the instructions carefully.
You can take home your work.
