This shrine is located at the seashore in Ei (頴娃) town. The view of the shrine with the sea, green trees and Kaimon-dake (開聞岳) is excellent.
“Kamafuta” means “a pot lid”. It is said that if you put a pot lid keeping on your head and walk from the torii gate to the offertory chest, your wish will be granted.
There is a little shop behind the offertory chest, and written oracles and charms are displayed. There is no one to sell these, and you need to put the fee into a slot in the left side door.
There is a picture of a dragon on the ceiling. It is said that if you take the photo of the dragon, the ball in it’s hand looks sparkling in the picture. If you want to visit the shrine, make sure you take your camera.
On the left side of the shrine, little pot lid shaped clay works are sold 100 yen each. (Nobody is there. Put the fee into the slot near the clay works.) If you can throw the clay works into the pot at the bottom of the cliff on the right side of the shrine, your wish will be granted, too.
“Itate Tsuwamono Jinja (射楯兵主神社)” is the formal name of this shrine.
There is a beautiful view point which is called “Kibo-no Misaki (希望の岬 / Cape of Hope)” through the path on the left side of the shrine, and here is the place thought to be flowing with mystical energy.
