Rikka is the 7th of 24 solar terms (節氣) in traditional East Asian calendars.
“Rikka” is the start of summer, so, from today, it is summer till “Risshu (立秋 / the start of autumn, August 8th this year) in the lunar calendar.
It’s summer on the calendar, however, the weather is very nice so it is a good season for outings.
This is also the season of fresh green leaves, heads of wheat start to ear in Kyushu and potato planting starts in Hokkaido.
This is the middle day between the Vernal Equinox Day and the summer solstice.
