Cuisine of Kagoshima@Dolphin Port ~ Dragon Dining S ~

Dolphin Port is located near the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal, Kagoshima Honko (Jet Foil Terminal) and the Kagoshima City Aquarium. The regular Kagoshima sightseeing bus “Kagoshima City View” stops right next to this place. Dolphin Port has a nice wide wood deck on the sea side.

There is a restaurant which serves the Cuisine of Kagoshima such as Keihan (鶏飯 / A bowl of rice served with shredded cooked chicken, mushroom, leek, omelet, pickled papaya and clear chicken broth), Kagoshima Ramen (本格鹿児島ラーメン / Chinese-style noodles in soup) and Shirokuma ( 白熊 / dessert made from shaved ice flavored with condensed milk, small colorful mochi, fruits, and sweet bean paste)!

This is the restaurant “Dragon Dining S”.

You can see Sakurajima and Kinko bay from the wood deck tables on the 2nd floor of Dolphin Port.

Despite the good seaside location, Kagoshima doesn’t have many restaurants or cafés which have outside tables, so if you want to eat in an open space, this is a good place.

The most popular dish at this restaurant is Keihan (鶏飯) which is an Amami islands’ specialty, a bowl of rice with chicken, egg, shiitake mushroom with chicken soup. This healthy dish costs only 1,000 yen. ↓

The dish at the top in the picture is included. It takes about 4 hours to make the tasty clear chicken soup.

Kagoshima Ramen (本格鹿児島ラーメン) is also popular. ↓

Making this soup also requires a long time. It is their original soup made from pork bones and chicken bones. The flavor is simple and tasty. (810 yen)

These cuisines of Kagoshima are popular, but the curry is great, too.

Their curry is not only spicy, but very tasty. The curry roux isn’t added at all, but it is seasoned with more than 20 kinds of spices!

The picture above is curry with sweet and tender simmered pork and salad. (1,108 yen)
Very tender pork with a little sweet flavor matches the spicy curry. Shitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots served with pork are also well simmered in broth.

At lunch time on weekdays, some dishes are 100 yen off.

The Enkai Course (宴会コース / Party Course) is quite reasonable, too. Including Nomi-hodai (飲み放題 / all-you-can-drink), it costs 3,500 yen per person. They offer very good food as well with the course.
