Gorgeous illuminations appear in Tenmonkan again, following the last year. At “The Space Corner” 600,000 LED lights make you feel like as if you are in the galactic vortex!
Walking through a light tunnel is very atmospheric, too
During the period, some workshops and a stamp rally is held. Some stalls sell food and drink.
The popular “Fantasia Train” will be operated from the 6th of January.

11 streets and shops in Tenmonkan are decorated with 56,000 lights bulbs this year, too.
It is nice to walk under the Christmas illuminations at Tenmonkan Pedestrian Street.

■■■ Minato Odori Park (みなと大通り公園) ■■■

The whole park is sparkling with about 120,000 LED lights on the trees. The fountain and the sculpture are lit up beautifully, so the scene is very romantic. It is one of the best illumination spots to walk with someone special.
All the illuminations are lit at the same time at 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00 every night, and 0:00 on the New Year’s Eve.

■■■ Dolphin Port (ドルフィンポート) ■■■

The waterfront is decorated with 230,000 beautiful lights again this year.
An 8-meter-high Christmas tree welcomes you at the front of the building.
Dolphins and wave-shaped lights glittering on the water, and 260m of lights along the deck are so pretty!
Clownfish, blue tangs, and other fish are swimming in a fantastic cylindrical sea made with lights.
In addition to a popular photo spot “Happy Heart Station” with a big heart and an angel, “New Dream World” with a pumpkin carriage and a gift box are there.
Some events are being held as well.

■■■ Amu Plaza Kagoshima “KAGOSHIMA CENTRAL ARC” (アミュプラザ鹿児島) ■■■

The concept of the Amu’s Christmas illumination is “Japanese Traditional Modern”.
It is composed of 5 areas such as “Hikari-no Tower” (The Light Tower)”, “Yui-no Arch” (The Knot Ark)”, “Tenku-no Asa-koushi (The Hemp Lattice in The Sky)”, “Hikari-no Ranma (The Light Transom)” and “Hikari-no Passage (The Light Passage)”.
The main illumination, “Hikari-no Tower” resembles Satsuma Kiriko, a traditional glass handicraft made in Kagoshima prefecture.
Outdoor pillars of Amu Plaza are decorated with illuminations of a kimono’s decorative cord motif.
Furthermore, the beautiful lights, resembling Japanese traditional patterns, decorate the building and the passages.

The rose garden, illuminated with colorful lights and roses lit up is very romantic.
The lighting ceremony of the illumination is held from 17:30 on the December 22 (Fri).
During the period, some events such as live performances and dance shows are held.
Food and drink booth (17:30 ~), Candle Art (17:30 ~), Rose Train Exhibition (17:30 ~) and the fireworks display with music and illumination (20:00 ~) are held every night.

■■■ Winter Illumination at Shibushi Railway Commemoration Park (志布志鉄道記念公園イルミネーション) ■■■

Shibushi station, the terminal station of the Osumi line and the Shibushi line of Japanese National Railways used to be here until 1987. A steam locomotive C58 is exhibited in the park and it is decorated with beautiful blue lights in this season. Trees and the avenue are covered with about 140,000 LED lights, too.
About the illumination tunnel it is said that if you walk through it with your partner, you will have a happy future together!

Michi-no-eki Sueyoshi is located on Route 10, and it is about 5 minutes’ drive from Sueyoshi-Takarabe IC on Higashi-Kyushu Expressway.
Michi-no-Eki, “Shikisai Ichiba”, the local products shop and “Restaurant Shikisai” are sparkling with the 20,000 LED lights.
You can also enjoy all-you-can-eat Berkshire Pork Shabu Shabu (1,580 yen) at night on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays.
