This is a very popular Illumination in the city in which about 1,000,000 lights shine the whole park and the path.
Colorful illumination express kaleidoscope appears this year at the main site, Tenmonkan Park.
Walking through a light tunnel at Kiyotaki-no Komichi Path stretching from the park is very atmospheric, too
During the period, some workshops and a stamp rally are held. Some stalls sell food and drinks.
The popular “Fantasia Train” (payment is required) will be operated this year again.

11 streets and shops in Tenmonkan are decorated with 54,000 lights bulbs this year, too.
It is nice to walk under the Christmas illuminations at Tenmonkan Pedestrian Street.
Various events will also be held during the period.

The whole park is sparkling with about 120,000 LED lights on the trees. The fountain and the sculpture are lit up beautifully, so the scene is very romantic. All the illuminations are lit at the same time at 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00 every night, and 0:00 on the New Year’s Eve.

■■■ Dolphin Port (ドルフィンポート) ■■■

The waterfront is decorated with 230,000 beautiful lights again this year.
An 8-meter-high Christmas tree welcomes you at the front of the building.
Dolphins and wave-shaped lights glittering on the water, and 260m of lights along the deck are so pretty!
Clownfish, blue tangs, and other fish are swimming in a fantastic cylindrical sea made with lights.
In addition to a popular photo spot “Happy Heart Station” with a big heart and an angel, “New Dream World” with a pumpkin carriage and a gift box are there.
Some events are being held as well.

■■■ Amu Plaza Kagoshima　「KAGOSHIMA CENTRAL ARC」 (アミュプラザ鹿児島)　■■■

The concept of the Amu’s Christmas illumination is “Japanese Traditional Modern”.
It is composed of 5 areas such as “Hikari-no Tower” (The Light Tower)”, “Yui-no Arch” (The Knot Arch)”, “Tenku-no Asa-koushi (The Hemp Lattice in The Sky)”, “Hikari-no Ranma (The Light Transom)” and “Hikari-no Passage (The Light Passage)”.
The main illumination, “Hikari-no Tower” resembles Satsuma Kiriko, a traditional glass handicraft made in Kagoshima prefecture.
Outdoor pillars of Amu Plaza are decorated with illuminations of a kimono’s decorative cord motif.
Furthermore, the beautiful lights, resembling Japanese traditional patterns, decorate the building and the passages.

The hotel courts, “Fantasy Garden”, “Happiness Garden” and “Gold Garden” are colored with 170,000 gorgeous LED lights.
The fountain in the Fantasy Garden which changes its color in seven colors is specially recommended.
The water dances to the music and the lights, “The Synchro Funsui Live” is held 8 times a night. (Click here for the schedule.)
The 10-meter high main Christmas tree is gorgeous. Its color is usually blue, but on the Christmas day and the St. Valentinian’s day, the color will change.
The 350 meters of art made with lights are so pretty.
This is the place where you can enjoy the illumination and the night view of the city.

The whole community works on this event. Each house on about 2 km of the residential street is decorated with beautiful illuminations.
During the period, stalls sell food and drink.
This illumination started 35 years ago to light the street up for school students who went home in the dark, and this will be the final year.

■■■ Winter Illumination at Shibushi Railway Commemoration Park (志布志鉄道記念公園イルミネーション) ■■■

Shibushi station, the terminal station of the Osumi line and the Shibushi line of Japanese National Railways used to be here until 1987. A steam locomotive C58 is exhibited in the park and it is decorated with beautiful blue lights in this season. Trees and the avenue are covered with about 140,000 LED lights, too.
About the illumination tunnel it is said that if you walk through it with your partner, you will have a happy future together!
The lighting ceremony is held on the 1st of December. A fireworks display is held, too.
