The Takada Quarry is the site of a stone quarry that opened in the late Edo period.
When you stand on the spot, the height is unimaginable.
A sign nearby the natural water pumping station says that in those days, when there was no heavy machinery, the stones were quarried using chisels and pickaxes.
This site is a glimpse into one aspect of people's lives in those days.
The quarried stones were processed and used for gravestones.
The site is just a short distance from the Takata natural water pumping station. It is marked by a brown sign along the road.
Events are sometimes held at this site.
