It could be the red lantern outside or the smell of BBQ coming from the inside, but "Yamaya" the hormon-yaki speciality Japanese pub is certainly a place to stop in and check out if you like to live on the wild side!. Hormon-yaki is directly translated as "broiled pig innards". Yes, no I know that some of you are screwing up your faces and making Eeewuuu noises because this sounds really creepy, but for the brave, I assure you that at the very least it offers you a great food story to tell the folks back home, and at its best there is a good chance you will like it once you have tried it.
Yamaya serves a variety of meats as well as fresh pork hormon, like hohoniku (cheek meat) and karubi (short pork rib) all the meats are only ￥300 a stick! Cheap and fresh! The beer at \500 is the most expensive thing on the menu. The Shichirin, a small clay cooking stove with charcoal, is placed on the table and you grill meat yourself! Using the Charcoal make meats more tender, but it also emits a fair amount of smoke as if you go to Yamaya, wear cloth that you don't mind getting smoky.
Go on, have a big glass of cold beer try some of the tender hormon-yaki I'm sure you will find it a cheap, smoky but yummy affair!!!
