OHARA MATSURI 2015 (おはら祭 2015)

Kagoshima’s biggest annual festival will be held this year, too!
People dance for two days!
On the 2nd (the festival eve), taiko performances and dance parades will be held from 19:00.
On the 3rd, more than 20,000 people parade while dancing to Kagoshima’s traditional music “Ohara-bushi” and other music. Also, taiko performances, “Ohara 21” which is the up tempo version dance of Ohara-bushi, music parades and marching band parades will be given.
Many events will be held at Amu Square all day as well.
You can get a tram discount service on the festival day (3rd from 9:30 to 17:30). If you get off at Takamibaba or Kagoshima Chuo Station Tram Stop, the tram fee is 100 yen.
Some events such as a local products sale, TV character show and kids dance performances will also be held at “Yuyu-hiroba (You遊広場) at Minato Odori Park.
You can also enjoy dancing with other people!
Dance practice for tourists will be held on the 2nd from 15:30 to 16:30 at the Kagoshima-shi Kyoiku Sogo Center (between Hozan Hall and Meizan Elementary School) on the 3rd floor.
Join a dance troupe which is open to all and enjoy dancing to the music! The open-to-all dance troop starts from in front of Higo Bank and city hall at 19:20 on the 2nd, 10:40 and 14:00 on the 3rd.
