The annual energetic festival which has the history since the Edo era. It is held invoking protection from plague and thriving business.
Men dressed in loincloths and women dressed in happi walk around carrying portable shrines (mikoshi) around Tenmonkan tram street.
The parade by the people dressed in Heian era costume is also fantastic. The Japanese orchestra of Gion Festival evokes the atmosphere. The mikoshi parades follow them.
