Tenmonkan will hold a yukata (informal cotton kimono for summer) festival!
About 2,000 lanterns light Tenmonkan up and people in yukata enjoy the festival.
Going to the festival in yukata is recommended.
Even if you can't wear yukata by yourself, there is no worry. The students of Tara Health & Beauty Collage will help you get dressed in yukata at Sun Plaza Tenmonkan 6F (B Hall) from 13:00 to 18:00 on the 2nd of August. You need to bring all the stuff for wearing yukata such as obi (the belt), geta (wooden clogs) or zori (Japanese sandals), 2 koshi-himos (waist strings), underwear for kimono, datejime (small, thin fabric belt worn over the kimono and under the obi) and 2~3 face towels. You can get the service on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving earlier is recommended.
On the night, each shopping street is planning to hold events in accordance with the characteristics of individual streets.
An event called "Uchiwa-de Furumai" will be popular. If you are wearing yukata, you can get an uchiwa (a round paper fan), and you can have free drink or snack if you show the fan. It is a service for the first two hundred arrivals. The fans will be handed out at Pira Mall, Izuro-dori and Tenmonkan Berg Square from 16:00.
Another event called "Night Bazaar" is a service for people who are wearing yukata at various shops and restaurants which have the yellow poster above. Those shops will be open until 21:00 on the night, and staff at the shops will be wearing yukata.
