This is one of the biggest markets in Kagoshima prefecture and it started in Edo era by farmers around the area selling straw works and bamboo products.
The street will be turned into a pedestrian precinct and about 400 stalls sell many kinds of things.
A flea market will also be held.
There will be a special bus service from Kagoshima Chuo Station. (6 buses in the morning from 7:50, there are return buses available, too.)
