This festival has been held more than 900 years. Yagoro-don is a huge doll. Some people say he used to be a follower of the 6th emperor, and others say he was a boss of The Hayato (people who used to live in Osumi) around A.D.700.
At the festival, Yagoro-don, which is 4m85cm high, walks around from Iwagawa-yahata shrine to the center of Osumi town (13:00 ~ 15:45).
