The spider fight itself has 400 years of history.
Orb-weaver spiders (コガネグモ) fight each other on a stick. The spider that spins a web on the other one’s back, bites the other one or throws the other one out will win. This event was specified as an intangible cultural asset of the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

Special products sale and a raffle will also be held.
If you want to enter your orb-weaver spiders to fight, apply to Chiiki Shinko-ka in Kajiki shisho (0995-62-2111) by the 19th of June. You need to bring 3 female orb-weaver spiders. The application fee is free.
