This event is said to have started because of an oracle of Usa Jingu saying hold a Buddhist memorial service to appease the spirits of the Hayato family. It is held invoking abundant crops, a good fishing catch and world peace.
Mikoshi parades walk from Kagoshima Jingu to Hamanoichi Yahata Yashiki.
