Kagoshima City's only Mexican restaurant is the small, cheerful and inexpensive "Crazy Uncle", situated in the backstreets of Kishaba.
The menu includes quesadillas, enchiladas, and burritos and there are more options. The plates of nachos are great for sharing with friends, or if you only want a light snack with your drinks. As well as great food, the benevolent Crazy Uncle also provides felt-tip pens for you to decorate your drink coaster and stick it up on the ceiling.
Finally, don't leave without trying one of Crazy Uncle's Tequila Shakers "Tequila hopper", and subjecting yourself to one of Kagoshima's most unusual and invigorating drinking experiences. The owner - Crazy Uncle himself? - arrives at your table with a glass of tequila, a coaster, a towel, and a suspicious grin on his face. He sets the glass down, places the coaster on top, and then - BAM! - smacks his hand down on it, so the tequila fizzes like crazy. This is your cue to grab the drink and pour it into your mouth - but don't swallow. Before you know it, your head is wrapped in a towel, and Crazy Uncle is shaking it around like a cocktail mixer! Refreshing is not quite the word.
